Writing Quote

"The novel is an event in consciousness. Our aim isn't to copy actuality, but to modify and recreate our sense of it. The novelist is inviting the reader to watch a performance in his own brain."

Check out TAINTED, Christina Phillips 4th book in her Roman/Druid series recently released by Ellora's Cave. It's getting some amazing reviews already and I'm not surprised! And what a gorgeous cover!!! Go and buy, you know you want to =))

Driven by the knowledge he failed to protect his king and embittered at losing the woman he loves, Celtic warrior Gawain despises the lust he feels for the beautiful Roman patrician, Antonia. She is everything he’s never wanted in a woman, yet she ignites his passion like no other. Despite the danger of discovery he embarks on an illicit liaison with her, determined to uncover the reason for the infinite sorrow that haunts her eyes.

Newly arrived in Britannia from Rome, Antonia is inexplicably drawn to the cold, tough Celt whose touch stirs a desire she long thought died at the hands of her brutal former husband. With Gawain she learns the pleasure of sex and his unexpected tenderness thaws her frozen heart. But she hides a deadly secret that could be her undoing, and knows her growing feelings for him can lead nowhere. Yet when a shadow from her past threatens her future Antonia is torn between the Empire of her birth and betraying Gawain, the man she’s grown to love.

Playing Catch up

It's been a while since my last post, mostly because I've been busy trying to catch up on my writing. I've written NIGHTMIX, a three book shape shifter series, of which Lusting the Enemy is book 1. I'm just now doing edits for book 2 but hope to see it out within the next few months =)

I had fun doing a Sensual Tension workshop for Claytons and saw some great entries for a little exercise I asked the attendees to write. We've sure got some talented writers is Oz!

Onto other news, I've got a secret project coming up, a continuity with two other authors I'm really excited about (I just have to write it now! lol) as well as a possible contract for a book I wrote when pre-published. It won/finalled in some comps but it wasn't quite up to scratch so I'm hoping the rewrites won't be too extensive! (eek!!!)

Other than that, I'm really looking forward to seeing BELIEVE come out in October with Soul Mate Publishing, a book I co-wrote with Kylie Sheaffe. More on that book later... =))

Claytons Conference! Be The Book.

I'm all geared up to present a workshop at the Clayton's Conference this coming Saturday, the 17th August: Sensual Tension Regardless of Genre. Yes, it's the online conference you attend when you can't make the real thing (Romance Writers of Australia Conference).

Here's the line up!
  • Alexandra Sokoloff-Keynote Speaker on the 3 Act 8 Scene Story Structure
  • Sue Grimshaw-of Random House's Loveswept & Flirt lines on The Quick Pitch
  • Mel Tescho-ARRA Nominee on Sensual Tension Regardless of Genre
  • Zana Bell-on the Grommet's Guide to Publishing
  • And Australia's own Queen of Romance Valerie Parv-on The Revision Maze

Should be a lot of fun! And I'm looking forward to reading some great 200-250 word stories on sensual tension =)
