Book Glut

Okay, yes I'm having a bit of a book glut - but it's my birthday soon and I'm buying some books dammit!!
I've decided to do a catch up on one of my favourite authors J.R. Ward, and though The Black Dagger Brotherhood is by far my fav series, I still want to read the Fallen Angels series - and check out her other pseudonym too (Jessica Bird) which I've been meaning to do for ages... And just so it's not a complete J.R Ward blitz, I grabbed a Kresley Cole novel too.

Got to love the free postage of The Book Depository...all these books for under 50 Aus dollars.

A Hunger Like No Other: Kresley Cole

An Unforgettable Lady: JessicaBird

Lover Mine: JR Ward

Crave: JR Ward

An Irresistible Bachelor: JR Ward

Envy: JR Ward

Lover Unleashed: JR Ward

Brief update...

~While I'm waiting on the edits for my 3rd gargoyle novel in the Winged & Dangerous series, I have sent off the contract and can not wait to see what cover the brilliant art dept come up with!

~Now that I know I've made it into the Something Wicked This Way Comes anthology, I'm eagerly awaiting news of its release date. And yes, my first (eventual) print book!!!! And my only dragon hero so far =)

~Hopefully some more publishing news soon, but in the meantime I'm still trying to get myself back into the writing mode after feeling like a deflated balloon the last few weeks - anyone got one of those Limitless pills, by chance??? BWG

~Want an insight into the Claytons conference? Go to the Lovecats for an overview =)

Claytons...done and done!!

Well it was a FULL ON three days at the online Claytons Conference and everyone was exhausted by the end of it, but from all reports it was a resounding success! =)
I'll be posting on Friday at the Lovecats about the experience and a bit of an overview. Hope to see you there! ...in the meantime... life intrudes and banal things like housework scream for attention, yes, it needs catching up on big time, oh, and I intend lavishing some attention on my kids!!!!
And then, back to writing, full steam ahead!

Final Cover for Something Wicked This Way Comes!

This is the final cover - very pretty! I'll add the release date when it's announced.
I seriously can't wait to read these =)

Movie of the month...

LIMITLESS

Okay, this movie had me from the moment the hero was a contracted writer - who was struggling to type even one word. Then he meets his ex-brother-in-law and things start looking up...or down, depending on your perspective, from there. He's given an illegal pill called NZT-48 - and he's gone from the usual brain power percentage (darn it, what is that percentage again???LOL) to using the full one hundred percent capacity.

I won't give the whole story away, but needless to say, being THAT smart apparently clues you in on fighting techniques, recalls long repressed information that suddenly makes sense, and gives you musical abilities in just hours of practise. Putting it like that is sounds kinda corny and silly, but it all came together brilliantly - as long as you're comfortable with the pill popping benefits this movie almost justifies...

Preliminary Cover

Yes, it's only the preliminary cover, but I wanted to share this great cover for volume 1 of Something Wicked This Way Comes. The green reminds me of the Incredible Hulk - very cool!!
If this is preliminary, I can't wait to see what the real cover looks like =))

Face-2-Face with...Lovecats Downunder

Yep, the title pretty much explains it! The Lovecats are over at the RWAus blog with a brief insight into our CATegory blog group - lots of fun! =)

There are four books in the anthology, and I can't wait to read them all and discover some new-to-me authors =)

!!!!CLAYTONS!!!!

As the Romance Writers of Australia conference draws near, those of us not attending look forward instead to the online Claytons conference!
We've got some fantastic presenters including editors from Ellora's Cave and Samhain, authors such as Tracey O'hara, Eleni Konstantine, Diane Gaston, Michelle Diener, Anna Hackett, Erica Hayes, Natalie Anderson, Sami Lee and Darlene Gardener (phew!!) - and some great writing challenges which include blurbs, synopsis' and short stories. (I'll be looking after the blurbs and short story crits)
This will be an amazing online experience for any RWAus member who wants to participate, and one that *almost* makes up for not attending the real conference. There are lots of cool book prizes, and it will be FUN!!! (And did I mention it's FREE!)
I'm really looking forward to meeting the 50 odd participants =))

Quotes that Resonate

I haven't posted any quotes for some time...so here's some that resonate with me =)

A perfectly healthy sentence, it is true, is extremely rare. For the most part we miss the hue and fragrance of the thought; as if we could be satisfied with the dews of the morning or evening without their colors, or the heavens without their azure.
~Henry David Thoreau

Writing books is the closest men ever come to childbearing.
~Norman Mailer

After all, most writing is done away from the typewriter, away from the desk. I'd say it occurs in the quiet, silent moments, while you're walking or shaving or playing a game, or whatever, or even talking to someone you're not vitally interested in.
~Henry Miller

Ultimately, literature is nothing but carpentry. With both you are working with reality, a material just as hard as wood.
~Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Giveaway of Galactic Burn

I've been interviewed at the lovely Ju Dimello's blog today, and offering a giveaway of Galactic Burn (or any back list title) to one commentator. Love to see you there! =)

To Do List

At the beginning of the year I had a To Do List, writing related things I really wanted to achieve for 2011. Well the year is half over and I felt compelled to go back and see how I was fairing!! Not too badly so far..but could be better.

Here's my list - and responses so far (will have to update at end of year)

Finish my co-authored single title, Believe, find an agent and a contract (All finished. I've sent a Query Letter to some agents, but have to do some more research and send out to some more.)

Write and publish the last novella of my gargoyle series, Winged & Dangerous. (Revising that right now)

Release another Bites story for 2011, and perhaps write a series. (I eventually wrote a Cravings - which is now elsewhere. I'm 7k into another story that should be more suitable!)

Finish my Ellora's Cave ms tentativly titled "Brothers of the Otherworld". (This one is released on the 15th of this month and renamed Galactic Burn. Very excited!)

Start work again on my single title ms "Dimensional" I began early 2010 (Had a very short bout on this book, really itching to start on it again soon)

Rework Shadow Hunter, which has been sitting idly since those comp wins/finals, and decide where it belongs, if anywhere. (This was my first ms and I'm not sure it fits anywhere without extensive work...might have to put off this one for another year *g*)

Choose one of my many 'just started' projects from over the years, and finish it!! (I found a really cool chapter of an old ms that should make a great Cravings or EC story and am 7k in...*see above*)

Wish me luck!!! =))

TRAILER: Darklight on the Darksiders!

The amazingly talented Eleni Konstantine put this trailer together for the Darksiders Downunder bloggers. Thanks so much Eleni, you're a star!!

GALACTIC BURN: release date & blurb

I'm so excited to announce July 15th is the release date of my short alien novel GALACTIC BURN.  (click title to read excerpt) This one is written under the line Futuristic/SciFi, so it's a little bit different to the paranormal and contemporary stories I've had published so far (not to mention the two extra heroes...)

I can only hope everyone enjoys the story! =)

Blurb:

Humans have been almost wiped out. Only a few females are recovering from the devastation. The same deadly virus annihilated the female population of a mighty alien nation and their three kings—Dar, Ezra and Maddox—are looking for one special female, Lillian, to capture and seduce.

Though Lillian survived, she has no memory and struggles with the fact that three alien men have become her lovers. One by one, they take her, make her burn for release and satisfy her every sexual need. She craves their touches, their kisses, their comforting embraces while forming strong emotional bonds with each. Lillian is falling for her sexy aliens and agrees to become their life mate in a special ceremony—her three males will make love to Lillian as all the surviving alien males watch.
But, as the ceremony nears, Lillian begins to remember. The aliens lied and covered up the horrible truth. Their happy, new life together might not be possible after all.

Goodreads

A lot of you probably already know I'm a terrible procrastinator. Well Goodreads has been my latest little hangout *sigh*. In all seriousness though, it's a great place to check out what your friends are reading (you befriend people just like you do on facebook) and what ratings they are giving books - it's a fantastic way to see recommendations and read reviews.
It's also where some of my own books have been read and rated (oh, the addiction! LOL).
Hmm, time to have a *bit* of a look (g)...

And the cover of the year goes to...

Kylie Griffin's VENGEANCE BORN!! This is her debut novel and book 1 of the Light Blade series, released 7th February 2012! This is a must buy for me. You can find out more at Kylie Griffin's blog where you can also find links to pre-order online!

CONGRATULATIONS KYLIE!
